How will I know what my child has for homework?

Every Monday students will receive a homework sheet to keep in their Homework Folder.  Anything that requires more instruction will be written on the actual homework. I try and write special events and things to remember on the page as well. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to write me a note at the bottom or back of your child's page. PLEASE REMEMBER TO CHECK YOUR CHILD'S HOMEWORK PAGE EVERY NIGHT!!

What is the policy on absences?

If you know your child is going to be absent please contact me and I will do my best go get work together for them. You can always pick up your child's work in the office or work can be sent home with another student or sibling. Please just let me know. Please be sure to send in a note the day your child arrives back at school so that we can keep it on record in the office.

How can I help my child be a better student?

Ask your child about their day. Ask them what kinds of things he/she did in school today. Please be sure to check your child's backpack and homework folder everyday. Ask your child about the papers that are in there. Encourage your child to try to complete homework on their own by reading the directions aloud. Then if he/she does not understand encourage them to ask for help. If you notice any errors in the homework ask your child to review the homework again to see if he/she can identify the mistakes. If homework is not being understood, please jot me a note so that I can review the next day in class.

How do we celebrate birthdays?

Please send me a note and let me know if you plan on sending something in for your child's birthday. Remember, no edible treats! We have 8 girls and 12 boys. Also, children are allowed to pass out birthday invitations ONLY if they are inviting ALL of the boys OR ALL of the girls, or of course, the whole class.  We don't want to hurt anyone's feelings by leaving them out.
